Product title checker

Every marketplace has its own title rules: Amazon.de allows 75 characters, eBay 80, and both reject certain characters. Paste a title, choose the marketplace and see what breaks its rules.

What the marketplaces allow in a title

Since 27 July 2026 Amazon.de allows at most 75 characters including spaces (media excepted) and replaces a longer title with its own suggestion; details that no longer fit go into the bullet points or the new “Item Highlights” field (up to 125 characters). eBay allows 80, Kaufland 150, Otto 120 and Etsy 140. A title over the limit is cut off or rejected, so the product type and the most important attribute belong at the start.

Amazon rejects titles with characters like ! $ ? _ { } ^ ~ * # < >, and the other marketplaces reject most of them too. Words in capitals are only fine for brands and abbreviations, and no word should appear more than twice — eBay wants each word only once.

The title is also listing text: superlatives like “beste”, promotional words like “NEU” or “Angebot” and generic green claims are not allowed in it either. The check uses the same rules for the title as the free listing check.
